Family
The word family can elicit a vast array of emotions from exhilarated to anger or sorrow and everywhere in between. But family is important, as we mentioned in our first post, and so we want to take a minute to talk about the nuclear and extended family.
What do we generally think of when someone asks about our family? Usually those people related to you in some way or the people living in our house. Why? Because those are the people we are often seeing and interacting with daily. Depending on your stage of life this could be your spouse, parents or kids, brothers and sisters, grandparents or grandkids, aunts, uncles and cousins. This includes those born, adopted or married in to the family.
This is all family, part of the amazing creation God designed in Genesis 2.
Family is our first introduction to life and humanity, hence it eliciting such strong feelings in us. Family teaches us how the world works and what is important. It even informs our view of God. This is why family matters so much.
Knowing this, it humbles me as a parent. What am I teaching my kids in our family? What am I telling them is important? What am I showing them about the world? How am I informing their view of God?
It is humbling in other roles as well. How am I living my faith before others in my family? How do I inform their view of God? How do I love the way Jesus loves me? How do I encourage them in the faith?
Family is so complex, but such a blessing. We desire to encourage you in your family role, whatever it may be, to live out your faith and the life God has called you to in Him.
How do you view family? What is your biggest family struggle?
